COLCHESTER SUNDAY POOL LEAGUE

CONSTITUTION

1. The league shall be known as, The Colchester Sunday Pool League.

 

2. The Object of the league is to promote the game of pool in a friendly manner.

 

3. Membership is to be confined to Public Houses, Social Clubs and Pool/Snooker clubs based within the CO postcode area.

 

4. Each team is to pay an entry fee to each season, payable before each season is due to start, Failure to pay a entry fee will result in the team/s not being entered.

 

5. The entry fees will be reviewed annually.

 

6. All income and expenditure shall be accounted for by the league Treasurer, who will at all times keep a true and accurate record and allow members to inspect these records upon request.

 

7. Membership is restricted to two teams per table, per Venue as per article 3 above.

 

8. The AGM will be held prior to the start of the new season but not at the end of the current season. This meeting will be held at a venue decided by the committee and start at 8.00pm. Details of the date will be advertised on the bottom of the fixtures list published at the start of the season.

 

9. All teams are to have one representative at the AGM in order that a fair vote is taken on any issues raised. Failure to do so will result in a fine of £10.00 being raised against non-attendees. Failure to pay this fine within 7 days will result in a 2 point deduction for the current campaign.

 

10. Each team is to have one vote and post or proxy votes will not be accepted. Only teams attending the AGM will be eligible to vote.

 

11. The Committee shall meet at least every two months at a venue and time to be agreed by the Committee. At least four members of the Committee must be present to form a quorum. 

 

12. The Committee have the right to call an Emergency General Meeting (EGM) should a situation arise where by they deem it necessary.

 

13. The Committee have the right to co-opt new members into the Committee when a vacancy exists.

 

14. Team members wishing to make changes to the Constitution, Match or Playing rules must submit their proposal in writing to the Fixtures secretary at least 14 days prior to the AGM. The proposal then must be proposed at the AGM, Seconded and a vote taken to effect a change.

 

15. Amendments to the Constitution shall be sent to each team prior to the new season beginning.

 

16. The Committee will consist of the following officials:

A. Chairperson

B. Treasurer

C. Fixtures Secretary

D. General Secretary

E. Committee Members

 

17. No team is permitted to alter their venue mid-season unless they are forced to leave by a change in management at the venue, the removal or destruction of the table or other extraneous circumstances. Any team wishing to alter venues must apply in writing to the Committee.

 

18. The Teams within the league have voted in the Committee to act and make decisions on their behalf and in their best intrests, therefore the decision of the Committee is final.

 

19. Any players wishing to transfer mid-season must apply to the Committee in writing and receive 

permission before the transfer can be made. Players may not transfer down divisions and may only transfer once per season. No transfers are permitted during the Summer Cup and any new players transferring are considered to be Cup tied, meaning they may not play for their new team in any cup competitions for the remainder of that season. No Transfers will be allowed from the Second Half of the Season 

 

20. All major trophies either purchased by or donated to the league remain the property of the league.

 

21. All trophies are to be kept at the premises to which they are awarded and kept in a clean re-usable 

condition. They are to be returned to the Committee when requested by the Trophies Secretary. Lost or damaged trophies will result in the team responsible paying for replacement or repair.

 

22. Individual trophies are purchased on the basis that there are 7 players within a team. Should any team that have more than 7 players and wish to present these players with trophies on the Presentation night, they are to be purchased at their own expense prior to the Presentation night via the Trophies Secretary. This is applicable for all competitions of the pool league.

 

23. Any player found guilty of violent conduct will be barred from the league for life.

 

24 Any fines levied by the Committee must be paid within 14 days. If unpaid the fine will be doubled and paid within a further 7 days. If unresolved the team captain will be asked to appear at a committee meeting where further penalties may be imposed 

 

25. If a team withdraws or is expelled from the league, all their results will be removed and all future matches will be classes as a bye. 

 

26. Where neutral venue’s are required they will be drawn from a hat.
